Prenatal Massage
Massage during pregnancy can be a beautiful way to begin embracing the journey of childbirth. It involves letting go and trusting in the process.
The soothing touch of prenatal massage softly leads you into a deep state of relaxation, helping you connect with the gentle flow of life's creation inside you. It transports you to a serene place where tranquillity prevails, enabling your mind and body to find balance and harmony.
This setting encourages moments of listening and bonding with your baby. It provides a space for you to rely on the wisdom of your body and your innate capacity to nurture life growing inside you.

Conscious touch and the science of the technique help you replenish, reconnect and recharge your energy on many levels and can be very effective in relieving aches, tensions and pain. It helps you root yourself in the earth and in your body, leading to a smoother and more enjoyable birthing experience.

Massage, overall, enhances your physical, emotional, and mental well-being, providing a calm and comfortable pregnancy experience.
The difference is in the details
As a certified prenatal massage therapist, my in-depth knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of pregnant women enables me to address their specific needs effectively.

I have learned to take good care of her positioning through the different stages of pregnancy and use appropriate techniques to alleviate specific conditions and symptoms.

Each session is specifically adapted to her specific needs and may involve energy work, visualizations, stretching, mobilization and a range of exercises.
How it benefits me?
-
It reduces stress, promotes relaxation and can help with insomnia.
-
It reduces edema (swelling) and may lower blood pressure.
-
Relieves varicose veins.
-
Reduces and relieves neck, back and joint pain caused by posture, muscle weakness, tension and extra weight. In the first trimester, most women's breasts have already grown significantly, increasing the possibility of upper back pain. A therapist can minimize the tension and stiffness caused by extra weight.
-
Relieves muscle spasms, cramps, sciatic and carpal tunnel pain.
-
Helps maintain skin elasticity to prevent stretch marks.
-
Helps relieve typical early pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, shortness of breath and energy levels.
-
Improves the digestive system. Constipation affects many women in the first trimester, and massage - especially regularly - can help keep you regular.
-
It connects you with your breathing, making it easier and deeper.
-
Stimulates the release of endorphins, the body's natural pain relievers.
-
Develops the sensory awareness, flexibility and relaxation necessary to actively participate in the birth process. Contributing to easier labor and delivery.
-
It provides the experience and model of loving, safe, and nurturing touch that encourages the expectant mother to touch her baby with love.
-
Massage is very useful for relieving and preventing headaches, many of which are caused by back and neck tension.
-
The first trimester of pregnancy can be an especially exhausting and unsettling time. Women tend to feel more emotional than usual, partly due to the massive surge in hormones, and partly because of what being pregnant can mean to them, even more so if the pregnancy was unplanned and/or wanted. Massage accompanies the body in its adaptation to hormonal changes and can help with early prenatal bonding.
-
It also offers the possibility of connecting with someone to talk in confidence about anything that worries you. It is common not to tell anyone anything until after the first examination, when the pregnancy is already established. This means that in the first weeks the mother cannot share or discuss her feelings with anyone (other than her partner).
Benefits for my baby
Massage enhances blood circulation to the uterus, placenta, and baby, while also boosting lymphatic flow to aid in eliminating toxins. Improved delivery of nutrients and oxygen supports the development of healthy tissues for both the mother and baby.
Is it safe in the first trimester?
One of the most common misconceptions is that massage in the first months of pregnancy can increase the risk of miscarriage. However, there is no evidence to substantiate this fear. When provided by a specialised pregnancy therapist, it is safe, and it offers numerous physical and mental advantages.

The key is to listen to your body and intuition and do what feels right for you. If you feel a longing for connection, you may find great value in the supportive atmosphere offered by massage therapy.

"The main goal of work in the first trimester is to support the multitude of changes that women are experiencing. Reducing stress and accepting changes are key to this. Work during the first trimester lays the foundation for the rest of the pregnancy" - Suzanne Yates, 'Pregnancy and childbirth - a holistic approach to massage and bodywork'.
